Called a hala in Arabic or cocotte in France, this pot is basically a covered casserole deep enough for braising or stewing. It’s perfect for soups, stews and braised dishes such as chicken or lamb shanks. It’s also fabulous for presenting dishes you’d like to reheat and serve from stovetop to table. The terra cotta keeps foods warm for a long time so you don’t have to worry about cold seconds. This size serves 4 to 6 people.
