Description

With its round belly and small opening, this La Chamba pot is perfect for beans. Use it on the stovetop as well as in the oven, or try leaving it in the embers of a fire overnight and enjoy waking to perfectly cooked beans for breakfast – yum! So versatile, it’s also great for soups, stews, even rice pilafs.

The simple elegance of its natural black finish makes any La Chamba pot a conversation piece. The smooth, unglazed surface is easy to clean with just a soak and a gentle wipe down. We recommend you periodically wipe the inside with oil (we use olive oil) to maintain a smooth, unblemished surface.

Burnished Black

Opening 8½” x 7½” H (21.5 cm x 19.5 cm). Because La Chamba pots are handmade, the actual dimensions may vary.

Features & Benefits

  • Its round shape and small opening are ideal for beans – designed to help keep the liquid in the pot where it belongs.
  • La Chamba pots are molded by hand, fired, then burnished with river rocks to obtain the smooth, black surface.
  • Easy to clean, unglazed, natural surface.
  • Lead and cadmium free.

Use & Care

  • Stovetop, oven and microwave safe. For gas cooktops, may use diffuser or lowest heat setting. For electric cooktops, please use only with a diffuser.
  • Smooth, hand burnished surface provides ease of cleaning. For difficult areas to clean, first soak for a few minutes in water, then scrub with a soft abrasive pad. Do not use metallic scouring pads.
  • Dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing to give the best care to your earthenware. See our section Clay Cooking 101 for detailed explanations and effects of soaps and detergents on earthenware.
  • Earthenware does not like extreme temperature changes. For example, do not take a pot cold from the refrigerator and place it directly on a stovetop or in a hot oven; it may crack.
  • Before first use, please season. A complete explanation of this procedure is explained in detail in Clay Cooking 101.
  • Periodically rub inside cooking surface with olive oil to help maintain smooth, unblemished surface.
