Description

In Spain, this little earthenware pot is called a frying pan. It’s used for small sautés of shrimp or vegetables to be served as small courses or tapas. We, of course, love them for their traditional uses but also find them incredibly useful as individual soup bowls, for baked casseroles or pastas, and as small sauce pots.

Available in a traditional Spanish terra cotta color, these little pots will suit most table decors. Made of thick earthenware, it’s very durable, chip resistant, and it’ll retain heat for a long time to keep your food extra hot at the table.  Available in two sizes, this small size shown here has a one quart capacity and is a great small sauce pot, individual soup pot, or individual casserole.

Opening 6¼” x 2¾” H (16 cm x 7 cm) not including handle.

Features & Benefits

  • Easy to clean, hand-applied glaze.
  • Lead and cadmium free.

Use & Care

  • Stovetop, oven and microwave safe. For gas cooktops, may use diffuser or lowest heat setting. For electric cooktops, please use only with a diffuser.
  • Clear ceramic glaze provides ease of cleaning. For difficult areas to clean, first soak for a few minutes in water, then scrub with a soft abrasive pad. Do not use metallic scouring pads.
  • Dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing to give the best care to your earthenware. See our section Clay Cooking 101 for detailed explanations and effects of soaps and detergents on earthenware.
  • Earthenware does not like extreme temperature changes. For example, do not take a pot cold from the refrigerator and place it directly on a stovetop or in a hot oven; it may crack.
  • Before first use, please season. A complete explanation of this procedure is explained in detail in Clay Cooking 101.
